Periodic Inspection and Testing

Tech Compliance Ltd specialises in the testing and inspecting of all types of electrical installations around the United Kingdom.

We can now offer a bespoke range of testing regimes in order of installations to comply with the Electricity at Work regulations and BS7671: 2004 (The IEE wiring regulations).

So why do we need to do it?

The main purpose of any periodic electrical testing is to provide, so far as is reasonably practical, for:

- The safety of persons and livestock against the effects of electrical shock and burns in accordance with the general requirements of BS 7671 130-01

- Protection against damage to property by fire and heat arising from an installation defect

- Confirmation that the installation is not damaged or deteriorated so as to impair safety

- The identification of installation defects and non-compliance with the requirements of the regulations that may give rise to danger.

- Legislation requires that electrical installations are maintained in a safe condition and therefore must be periodically inspected. This will ensure compliance with the Statutory Regulation 4(2) of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

Periodic inspection and testing is necessary because all electrical installations deteriorate due to a number of factors such as damage, wear, tear, corrosion, excessive electrical loading, ageing and environmnetal influences.

Periodic inspections are recommended when:

- There is a change of occupancy for the installation
- There is a change of use for the installation
- Alterations or additions have been made
- A significant change in the electrical loading has occurred
- Where there is concern that damage has been caused to the installation

Tech compliance Ltd has vast experience in the periodic testing of installations. We have learned over the years to accommodate all the needs of our clients and their installations through tailor made testing schemes. These can range from standard five yearly testing in accordance with the IEE guidance note 3, to regular preventative maintenance schedules incorporating routine checks and annual testing.
