Periodic Inspection and Testing We can now offer a bespoke range of testing regimes in order of installations to comply with the Electricity at Work regulations and BS7671: 2004 (The IEE wiring regulations). So why do we need to do it? The main purpose of any periodic electrical testing is to provide, so far as is reasonably practical, for: - The safety of persons and livestock against the effects of electrical shock and burns in accordance with the general requirements of BS 7671 130-01 - Protection against damage to property by fire and heat arising from an installation defect - Confirmation that the installation is not damaged or deteriorated so as to impair safety - The identification of installation defects and non-compliance with the requirements of the regulations that may give rise to danger. - Legislation requires that electrical installations are maintained in a safe condition and therefore must be periodically inspected. This will ensure compliance with the Statutory Regulation 4(2) of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. Periodic inspection and testing is necessary because all electrical installations deteriorate due to a number of factors such as damage, wear, tear, corrosion, excessive electrical loading, ageing and environmnetal influences.
